Good Glocks - Whether you are a hardened veteran or even a counter shooter, due to popular media, "Glock," has become a household word for everyone, everywhere. While the uninformed might think it's just slang for "gun," we know that Glock is actually a firearms manufacturer based out of Austria with American roots in Georgia. They have been in business for almost 40 years and have dozens of models to choose from.
Note: not all models are available for civilian purchase. To gain full access to the products and have an order from an online seller shipped to your home, you will need an FFL license. For more information, check out our guides.
Good Glocks
Their engineering simplicity and proven reliability have made Glock the go-to weapon of countless law enforcement agencies around the world. In addition to serving those who protect us at home, Glock works with various governments to help provide their military with high-quality weapons that can withstand the rigors of combat.
Range Report: Glock 35
While Glocks are a popular firearm that won't break the bank, it's important to know that they don't come equipped with a traditional safety switch. Instead, it uses three internal mechanisms to prevent accidental firing of the weapon. As always, treat each weapon as if it were loaded. Security is very important when it comes to these tools.
Since Glock has so many models and information to sift through, we decided to narrow down our list and try out some of the most popular pistols. The following opinions are personal and do not necessarily mean that everyone agrees. The data below the picture includes summary bullets as well as company specifications. For the most up-to-date information, please check the official Glock product page related to your desired weapon.
Thousands of civilians use Glocks as their primary concealed carry weapon, and their reputation for reliability allows you to feel confident that it will be ready to perform no matter when you need it.
This G26 is one of Glock's most popular concealed carry models. It offers a compact size that allows it to be hidden in the waist and remains comfortable even for long periods of time. Because it is a very compact pistol, its overall effective range is reduced compared to other models, although it is still accurate at close range or father for those who train intensively. A common complaint concerns the weapon's standard grip. Since it is small, the pinky finger and the ring hang down and cause the weapon to change after every few rounds. To maintain a proper sight picture, it is common for you to adjust your grip on the G26.
Step By Step: How To Clean A Glock (with Photos)
The G42 is the smallest firearm Glock offers, coming in at just under six inches in length from the tip of the barrel to the butt of the grip. This makes it ideal for pocket carry as it has a slim single stack frame. Due to its small size and relatively small width compared to most other pistols, the G42 is often uncomfortable to hold for those with larger hands. It is great for those who want to carry something for convenience, or for those who want to hide a backup firearm.
If you like the feel of the G42 but want something a little bigger with a little more stopping power, then the G43 is your weapon. The larger surface area of the grip makes it easier to handle, even by those with larger hands. For a concealed carry weapon, this firearm delivers a balance of control and stopping power that will ensure a consistent shot group. Again, due to the streamlined frame, this weapon uses single stack magazines and reduces overall capacity compared to other weapons.
While it may not be a compact gun, it certainly qualifies for concealed carry. Instead of being a large compact, it is like a slightly reduced version of the full-size G17, and the benefits are an incredible number. In fact, it may just be the most popular concealed carry gun on the market.
The longer barrel improves accuracy, the grip makes control second nature, and the increased capacity ensures you're prepared for even the worst situations. While it's a personal preference, the standard sight doesn't do this weapon the justice it deserves, but it's easy to swap out for something more effective.
Best Glock For Concealed Carry
We do not presume to say that the above weapons should only be used for concealed carry, or that the firearms below should be reserved for anything else but. In our opinion, larger firearms tend to become unwieldy and can make the concealment aspect difficult to maintain. For these reasons, we have relegated the following firearms to the home defense or service firearms category. Their larger size offers better accuracy, capacity and stopping power than many of the guns listed above.
The G17 is the bigger brother of the G19. Both fire the same round, although the larger frame allows the G17 to outperform its sibling in almost all competitive categories. If you need a reliable primary duty weapon, the G17 is a popular choice among police officers. The primary disadvantage of this weapon is the fact that it only holds a 9mm round and in some situations the lack of stopping power can be detrimental to the user. That said, they often argue the other side of the coin is that you can carry more magazines.
Disadvantages: The relatively light weight of the rifle can make the .45 caliber rounds difficult to handle for some shooters.
The G21 is the big boy of the Glock world. It features the famous .45 round made famous by the Colt Model 1911. This firearm is ideal for those who do not want to risk an attacker coming, although the kick may be a bit much for some who do not would be a lot of experience shooting firearms. Overall, this is a great gun for home defense.

In 1963, an Austrian engineer and businessman named Gaston Glock founded Glock as a manufacturer of injection molding parts and components such as shower curtain rods and rings. Later in the 1970s, Glock began producing military products such as knives, grenade launchers, and machine gun belt links. Fast forward to the 80s and mr. Glock designed its first pistol for the Austrian army. The unique aspects of this gun beyond the polymer frame and high capacity magazine were the three internal safeties.
